Teen Driver Education Program

Starting the vehicle:

  • Make sure your foot is firmly on the brake before starting the engine.

  • Check your mirrors and surroundings before shifting into gear.

  • Release the parking brake before moving.

Stopping the vehicle:

  • Always check your mirrors and surroundings before stopping.

  • Apply brakes gradually unless an emergency requires sudden stopping.

  • Anticipate traffic conditions to plan smooth stops.

Turning:

  • Signal at least 200 feet before turning.

  • Reduce speed before the turn to maintain control.

  • Turn the steering wheel smoothly and maintain a constant speed throughout the turn.

  • Accelerate gently as you exit the turn and straighten the steering wheel.
