Modern vehicles are equipped with gauges and warning lights that provide important information about your vehicle’s condition.
Key dashboard gauges:
-
Speedometer: Displays vehicle speed.
-
Odometer: Displays total miles driven.
-
Fuel gauge: Indicates the amount of fuel remaining in the tank.
-
Tachometer: Shows engine revolutions per minute (RPM).
-
Temperature gauge: Indicates the engine’s operating temperature.
Common warning lights:
-
Oil pressure warning light: Signals low oil pressure, which could damage the engine. Stop the vehicle and check oil level immediately.
-
Brake system warning light: May indicate a serious brake problem or that the parking brake is engaged.
-
Battery/charging system warning light: Indicates a problem with the vehicle’s electrical charging system.
-
ABS warning light: Alerts that the anti-lock braking system may not be functioning properly.
Drivers must be familiar with their vehicle’s dashboard indicators and respond appropriately to warning lights.
