Teen Driver Education Program

The Indiana BMV written knowledge exam tests your understanding of traffic laws, signs, and safe driving practices. Here’s how to prepare:

  • Study: Review all course materials and the Indiana Driver’s Manual thoroughly.

  • Practice signs: Ensure you can recognize traffic signs by shape, color, and meaning.

  • Know key numbers: Speed limits in different zones, minimum following distances, BAC limits, etc.

  • Understand scenarios: Practice interpreting right-of-way situations, school bus laws, and lane markings.

Test-taking tips:

  • Read each question carefully before answering.

  • Eliminate clearly incorrect answers if unsure.

  • Take your time — accuracy is more important than speed.

The skills exam will require demonstrating practical driving skills, including parking, turning, lane use, speed control, and obeying signs and signals.
